Melissa Milios Davis is Vice President of Strategic Communities and Informed Communities at the Denver-based Gates Family Foundation and Director of the Colorado Media Project since 2020. Her decade in journalism included award-winning education beat coverage for the Daily Breeze newspaper in Los Angeles, breaking news coverage and online content production for the Austin American-Statesman and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, and stints as a production intern for the Voice of America in London and both L.A.-area NPR stations, KCRW and KPCC. She also has over a decade of leadership experience in nonprofit and government communications, public policy, fundraising, partnerships, operations and project management. She is a founding board member for the Colorado News Collaborative, on the Media Impact Funders membership committee, and on the local leadership team for ComNetworkDENVER.
