Shannon lives for all things that get people outdoors. He’s had a few recreation jobs: summer camp counselor, wrangler, outdoor pursuits director, and guide. He’s also had office jobs on staff at Men’s Health, Climbing, REI’s Adventure Projects, Visit Estes Park, and Backpacker, where he’s currently Editor-in-Chief. He’s also managed not to work at all for a few glorious stretches, living in a VW Westfalia (before #VanLife was a thing, fortunately/unfortunately). After listing all of that stuff, he sincerely wonders how he packed it all in. He lives with his son, black lab, and eight chickens in Lyons, Colorado.
