Thor Tingey is the Co-Founder and CEO of Alpacka Raft. In 2000, after completing a 600-mile packrafting traverse of Alaska’s Brooks Range with wholly inadequate boats, Thor asked his mother, Sheri Tingey, to design a better-performing packraft. That request not only sparked the creation of Alpacka Raft but also helped launch the modern sport of packrafting.
While Sheri continued developing and refining the boats, Thor pursued a career as a USGS fisheries biologist, then earned his law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School. He spent nearly eight years practicing law before returning to the family business, where he now leads Alpacka Raft’s mission to craft the highest-quality packrafts for adventurers worldwide. As a made in the USA company, Alpacka Raft designs and manufactures all of their packrafts in the small town of Mancos, CO. For more, visit www.alpackaraft.com.
